Description
Evaluating Functions, finding the value by substitution and recognition of the notation, for both linear, quadratic functions and composite functions is covered in this resources. This resource has four different tick or trash worksheets in which pupils understanding of evaluating both numerically and algebraically is tested by challenging misconceptions directly in the form of ‘Tick or Trash’. Test your students’ ability to spot mistakes and develop their understanding with this activity. Pupils are given two different answers to a question and have to determine which is correct. They then have to explain what misconception has led to the incorrect answer.
The four worksheets are;
- Worksheet A; This worksheet has 10 questions; 8 questions involve evaluating the three functions numerically and 2 questions involve exact (Pi) and algebraic evaluation.
- Worksheet B; This worksheet has 10 questions; 4 questions involve evaluating the three functions numerically and 6 questions algebraically.
- Worksheet C; This worksheet has 10 questions evaluating composite functions numerically.
- Worksheet D; This worksheet has 10 questions evaluating composite functions algebraically.
