Test your students’ ability to spot mistakes and develop their understanding of the nth term of a sequence with this activity. Pupils are given two different answers to a question and have to determine which is correct. They then have to explain what misconception has led to the incorrect answer.

Worksheet A; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of linear sequences. There are nine questions of increasing sequence and Q10 a decreasing linear sequence.
Worksheet B; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of linear sequences. The first nine questions are a mix of both increasing and decreasing linear sequences and Q10 basic quadratic sequence.
Worksheet C; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of quadratic sequences, a mix of a=1 and a≠1…
Worksheet D; This worksheet has 9 questions which progresses through all of the above style questions; linear and quadratic.
